In keeping with my current trend...
I was really looking forward to tonight's Monday Night Football for a number of reasons. I was thoroughly impressed. I hate blowouts, but even in the first quarter it kept itself interesting. Then it wasn't a blowout but I liked it.
Michael Vick is great. I think he may be my favorite quarterback at the moment. If anything, I like a quarterback who runs when he needs to. That's what upset me about quarterbacks like Brett Favre. Vick ran in two touchdowns tonight.
He knows what he's doing and is unstoppable.
The team picked up on that vibe as well.
A lot has been going on recently one of them being me quitting California Tacos. I just got sick of trying to get things done and not being able to. I was given a copy of Kitchen Confidential recently and it pulled it all together what my frustration was ans made me see clearly that I need to leave. I've tried to no avail to get the place where it needs to and if they want to struggle to get orders out during lunch in 30 minutes that's fine, we'll lose customers through that downfall.
Business had slowed down and when we get busy we can't do it.
I'm tired of not being able to do my job and being paid little to be a manager and end up being not a manager but an employee with good ideas that don't go through because upper-management doesn't do anything to get it going.
I saw my old boss yesterday driving the bus. He still owes me just over $5,000 and now I won't be riding the bus that I like riding. I'm not confrontational unless necessary but I have to be in the moment.
We're going to Spearfish for my daughter's birthday and I'm excited. Without being cliche, I do love my daughter and she's brilliant as all and funny as hell. I'm not sure if all kids do this but she was looking at a pair of pants today and standing the whole time. She wasn't aware of it and when she became aware she fell. Like Wiley Coyote running off the cliff.
I made a customer cuss me out last week by being professional and making him feel like the dumbass he is at the same time. He called saying that he ordered nachos and never got cheese with it. What it came down to was him generalizing us with other Tex-Mex places and blamed us for not knowing he was a new customer and should have walked him through the menu.
I told him if he asked we would've but we're not mind readers. I told him if he looked at our menu that under our nacho list our first thing is chips and salsa and if you want another dip like cheese or guacamole you ask for it. He proceeded to say that that's our downfall for not keeping standards (long story on that one, too) and I said, "If you want a pepperoni pizza, you can't call a pizza place and say, 'I want a pizza.' You have to say, 'I want a pepperoni pizza.'"
He then said, "Fuck you! Fuck your fucking taco, California Tacos..."
We won't be missing him. We tried to rectify it and told him that next time he's in we'll comp him the chips and cheese but we don't give money back (especially to people who think we've made a mistake). If we did this based on people's misconception of us being represented by Taco Bell we'd close down.
