No Train. No Life!

Visiting Dawn in Kansas City and actually spending a day here as opposed to just being at the Greyhound station (briefly checking out the downtown and Power & Lights district), truck stops, truck terminals, or just going to a concert - and we found good BBQ. Not the one I wanted to find, but did the job. The one I wanted is part of a gas station.

Today, we went to Waffle House for mediocre greasy spoon stuff with mediocre coffee in a nice mug. We then worked our way to the, apparently, thrift store district which not only let us find two other BBQ places, but some treasures as well - one being the Hulk Hands (photo is for Jeff).

The also had a tape collection which was much close to mine from ninth grade, but included this FEAR album which I needed to get. The downside is the album, of course, looks like a white-power band (which they're not - sort of like that Reagan Youth cover) and a black lady rung it up.

The last stop on the way back to the hotel was the 7-11 which is always a stop for me. I wanted a small coffee but the choices were between the smaller Romney one or the bigger Obama one, so guess which one I went for. Do these profits go to their campaigns?

Gonna do some calculus and read. Two observations in Kansas City is a) people refuse to use turn signals even, and maybe especially, when on a 55 mph highway and then making a right turn and b) when you make a specification on a food order, you may just as well not have made the request.

Matt told me Robert may join our swim team in a few weeks. That'd be nice to hang out with him since I don't get to much anymore. Matt also told me about those hand-paddle things which give you a super-good upper-body workout and forces you to do the form correctly. I've cut my swim time in half. Not like I'm swimming fast, but I'm cutting the breaks in between the laps. I'm slowly but surely getting the butterfly together. I can do the stroke and dolphin kicks individually, but I'm having trouble doing them together. I can do it if I focus but then I don't breathe and when I do breathe I throw off the fluidity of it. I think I'll perfect it in a week since I'm now going everyday.

Classes would be better if I'm not spending half the study time learning the software for each class. Software should be easy to learn, but when you're learning a new subject while learning, you're learning the software is dependent on your understanding the subject. Then in the class which should be easier, my JavaScript (since I took this same one 10 years ago), I'm relearning the language (which is coming back), but coding them in Unix. So I'm relearning a language in a new operating system. I wish I could just take an English class.
