The Newest Thing

So we had several instances of the wait in line for 30 minutes and expect their food in ten. Why would go somewhere that has no table available and a line to the door, wait in line, then expect your food quickly?

Another brain buster. Same situation as above and a guy comes back to the register and asks me if I could come wipe a table down next door. Rick asks what's wrong and I say, "This fucking moron wants me to stop taking orders and wipe his fucking table!" Just know that there's a guy with a bus tub and a cloth walking around the dining room.

Which brings me to the unobservant people who come and ask where our napkins are at. The thing is they have untensils and condiments which means they are at the place where the napkins are at buy didn't look up to see the huge brown front napkin dispenser on the wall. It's like, "No way. I'm not looking up. I know everything I need is here except for napkins but no way will I look up...I'll ask the cashier."

So last year my work got filmed for "Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives." It aired a couple of months before the College World Series and we got our asses kicked then and still are. It's good for business.

This past weekend, the Food Network had a marathon of the show and we aired several times during it. After close on Saturday we got a million phone calls and not ones that we could just hang up on; it was way more annoying. Like, "Thanks for calling California Tacos, Sorry, but we're closed." You'd think that would be a five second call where the response would be, "Oh, okay. Thanks."

But after that it'd be, "Wait, wait, wait, where are you located?" We tell them. Then we're asked for directions. We tell them while being interrupted by them jumping ahead thinking they can take it from a certain point.

Sunday was cleaning day. All day we got calls. Monday morning before we opened we got calls. Then, from eleven o'clock AM until 9 PM we were busy. Non-stop! I ended up working a double shift because I couldn't break away it was so busy.

I finally got to use the bathroom at 5:45 PM and I was there since 9AM. I finally got to eat something at that time as well. This is where I draw the line that being too busy is not good. You need time to re-stock and everything and I don't know why people need to say, "Hey, we saw you on TV and decided to come." Fuck you!

I also don't understand how people can wait in line for 30 minutes and be satisfied and if their order takes more than 15 minutes to come they get upset.

I also hate old people.

I also do not understand how you can stand in front of the person taking your order and get greeted and just ignore, not acknowledge in any way and say something like, "Oh, just a minute" or something. They're complacent enough to stand there for, literally, five minutes discussing amongst themselves what they want and trying to figure out what things are. I fucking get paid to inform you and direct you where you need to go and get the goddamn line moving.

Later in the evening led to our friend Kent getting beat and full beer bottles smashed on his head and left for, dead I guess. He was bleeding and unconscious and I had to call the ambulance while everyone left. He was just laying there bleeding and knocked out. There was no reason for this. I hate people. Even if I didn't know him, I don't like seeing anyone beat.

Anthony talked to him today and he's all right. He doesn't remember anything and got injected with something at the hospital and he sobered up real quick and he noticed his side of his head was bleeding. I'm glad he okay but I still need to figure shit out.
