No Train. No Life!

Troutdale, OR

Did our delivery in Portland today and am now back at the TA in Troutdale. Not too bad and no job as of yet. I wouldn't mind staying here and getting dispatched tomorrow or something. I just hate getting dispatched after dark because they usually give us overnight drives and that's not fun. Especially in the mountains.

Speaking of, had to use snow chains the other day. Not fun. Didn't even know how to. Hope we don't need them anymore. We lost two of them.

Why is it that we're on the west coast when our comfort zone isn't the midwest and the south? That's a good question that was responded to by, "There's no freight in your [comfort zone]. There's a bunch up there." Read that as, "No one wants to do loads up there so you have to."

Got to go.

Egads!

Waiting for Bouchra and Moubarak (sp) and their friend Nick and meeting for coffee. I think we're going to Scooters which used to be cool until they threw all their ethics and visions out the window upon becoming successful. Typical business stuff, you know.

Anyway, the other night, we went to the Thrift World on 90th and Maple. This is the one that I found Fletch Won and Fletch Too at in October. Being that I haven't watched the Fletch movies and read a Kevin Smith article in which he said that he wanted to do Fletch Won but only if they let Jason Lee play Fletch and that I'm a huge Jason Lee fan and Kevin Smith fan, I got curious and picked the two books up and am now a Fletch fan.

I started wanting to watch the Fletch movies and could not find them anywhere and figured I'd probably have to order them online. But at Thrift World I checked their video section and found both of them.

Super dice!

Don't know what else is going today, but it seems all hectic the next two days so we'll see what happens.

Omaha, First Blood

Man, this is awesome. After a long and arduous day, it's finally reached nirvana. I'm here, with nothing to do. I cooked dinner and am slowly getting drunk off of Fat Tire and the leftover growlers of bock and stout beer from Granite City.

We definitely got internet access now from whereever we're at and I'm stoked. I still have to upload the screenwriting software onto this.

Got a Johnny Cash CD to listen to. It's of unrealeased tracks, so I'm really stoked.

Also, been watching and recording new Rollins stuff. Really good.

Jeff and Margaret are coming into Omaha tomorrow and I got some stuff for them as well.

Speaking of, the last time I was here, I checked out the new thrift shop down the road and got two Fletch books: Fletch Won and Fletch, Too. I read those and got really interested in the Fletch movies; as I've never seen them. So I go to the thrift shop to look for new Fletch books that I might have overlooked the last time or the same person donated new ones and found Fletch and Fletch Lives. Super stoked.

Jeanne got me the Da Vinci Code. I've been wanting to watch it because I loved the book so much and I've heard that the movie was bad. But, it's Ron Howard and the DVD came with an audio CD of the prequel (sp> Angel and Demons. I don't know what I feel about that based on the premise, but it's sure something to listen to on the road.

It's like "24." I mean, Jack Bauer (sp) has exactly 24 hours to do a mission and in Angels & Demons, Robert Langdon had to figure yet another time sensitive and important history case. Whatever! I'm still going to listen to it.

Still in Omaha, NE

Got a bunch of errands done and got a bunch more to do today. It's fine, though. It's just great not to be on the truck for a while.

Need to get an wireless internet card and maybe buy some books. Hopefully I can get time to stop at the Antiquarium while here. I hope they're still open. I'll buy the rest of their Rollins CD's.

Speaking of, I bought a new Rollins Band album I'd never heard of called Hard Volume, I think. It's downstairs. I also got a John Coltrane album. I couldn't find any of his spoken word ones or the William Shatner album, but I'm sure I can get one or the other at the Antiquarium or Barnes & Nobles.

Email

If anyone has not emailed me in a while or had emailed me and have not gotten a response in the past two or three months, I never got it and I do not have your addresses anymore.

Please re-email me so I can get your address again and not write it down anywhere else as a back up.

Omaha, NE

If anyone is ever interested in finding out where Jeanne and I are driving, you probably could just watch the weather channel and find the most disatrous weather out there and we're probably there or just by it.

Anyway, on one of our really horrendous trips that happened to be in Chicago, we got lost due to ramps not being numbered as they are on the atlas, detours that aren't labeled correctly, and signs that are covered in snow, so you can't read them. So we missed the pick up and got stuck in Chicago for a day and a half. The good news is that we got to hang out with Jeff and Margaret.

I got two new Rollins DVD's.

More later. Got five days off.

Peace.
