No Train. No Life!

Went to Donna's place today her shower for her new puppies she's been awaiting for months. She had these statues like Venus de Milo and some torsos and busts and Ayana kept saying that "it's broken" and "fix it." I love hearing the family's defense towards the sentencing in the Air Force sexual scsndal. His wife and family were talking about how he came from a poor area in Brooklyn and longed to be in the Air Force and now his dreams are over. Boo-hoo! You raped women! The World-Herald's front page (Literally - almost the entire from page with colored photos) article with the follow-up being another entire page with 6x4 color photos was, "the Hottest Jobs." Not as in, you know, in hard economic times these are the "hottest jobs." It's them, so it's literally the "Hottest jobs." Tip No 1: Drink lots of water...those types of jobs. Front page of the main news section. Open to A-3: "On the roof you can't escape the heat." DIE!!!! Speaking of, Henry Rollins in Lincoln, Setember 30...

Tulsa, OK

Woke up early to what would be a day of fast food and I feel gross now. Went to the hospital to visit Judy and see how she's doing; she was moved overnight into ICU due to a reaction to the pain medication. Joe's the power-of-attorney which is bad because of him being in Vegas and non-responsive and he doesn't know much about Judy's situation and because he feels and makes it so that everyone relies on him. And if he does anything, he needs you to know he did...unless you're a friend or something or other. I could have him spend hundreds on us at the bar and he wouldn't think twice, but ask for an advance because of medical reasons, you're irresponsible.

So Charlie wants to be with the family through this, but they only have one car and Maria's starting med-school and has to be here with the car for that and the family so being without much money they were contemplating ways to come up. Uncle Tom suggested several things and then asked why Joe wouldn't pay for it since he's got "a buck-and-a-half." We both looked at each other and said, "You probably don't want to know." To which he replied, "I probably know more than you think."

My immediate reaction and suggested solution was that if Charlie was willing to help with gas, then I'd come pick him up. He was more than happy, so I made the hectic journey out of Omaha down here. If I had thought about this for five minutes longer I would have gotten here two hours or so quicker, but I didn't realize that until halfway down I-35 and realized the path I was taking was not the one I had in mind and ended up backtracking 100 miles or so. I was thinking I was on I-44, which would've saved a lot of time.

So several Phil Hendrie shows, my playlist, and a few David Cross CD's later, I'm here, tired, and looking forward to the drive back.

Watched the new Wes Anderson film tonight after work. One stupid thing I said today was in trying to make conversation with these Texas swimmers. I asked if the swim meet was done, knowing there was one more meet which she confirmed. Then I realized I couldn't think of another thing to say because I shouldn't ask if she won or lost and ask, "Was it fun?" What the hell? So after work, Andrew and I got my bike and walked to King Fong. Both of us had not eaten there and wanted to try it. Aside from the ambiance, the food was on par with the rest of Omaha's Western-attempt at Chinese, which was good, but I expected more. We then walked to Slowdown for Happy Hour and said hi to Chris Machmuller (sp) and others and joshed Matt Carroll when he showed up. We then walked to Sokolof and got out free pass for "Student Night" and filled the form and where it asked how we learned about it I wrote, "Duffy." Movie was great. Before it started the worker came in and said that it's a packed house so move in. I said, "But I'm a sex offend..." and she darted her eyes at me and I said, "I'm just joking." Great movie. On top of it all, Bruce Willis and Edward Norton. After, I rode home via Burt to Happy Hallow then to the Keystone.
