No Train. No Life!

Kansas City, MO

So the truck isn't going to be ready until tomorrow so I am at a motel. I just showered and couldn't bring the DVD player because I stupidly left the plug-in adapter at home.

Of course there's nothing on. I stumbled upon "Extreme Makeovers," a show I haven't seen in years. And when I did see it, there was this fat girl from Omaha on it. So several years later and my second viewing of this show, there's another Omahan. I think we've got a problem here. This one wasn't fat, however.

So what do i end up watching? "Who's the Boss?" And there's another episode next. Then "the Wonder Years." This happened the last time I thought I needed cable. We got it and all I did was watch "Full House," "Family Matters," and "Step by Step.'

Today was rather uneventful. Just sitting at the damn terminal with other truckers watching bad TV and drinking bad coffee. Highlight, though, was Jeff was online and got to chat a bit. Also, he sent this fucking hilarious (gulp) Youtube vid of misheard lyrics to the tune of "Yellow Ledbetter." Funniest line was, "Make me fries."

I'm glad I'm getting off the truck. I get this way when I'm not in control of things where my self-confidence and everything goes to shit. I become very vulnerable and things like being alone, being in unfamiliar territory, and especially when it gets dark, overcast, all that...and when winter is around, that feeling grows exponentially.

I'm glad I didn't have to sit with popping-off-at-the-mouth truckers today. They were all pretty cool and we all watched and laughed through Gone in 60 Seconds. A very bad movie with guys I like but with a lead guy who happens to be the worst actor and, in real life, a fucking bad dresser.

They laughed at my jokes.

I think this is the episode with the bra with the bow on it.

Kansas City, MO

There are many simple analogies that one could use to show the willful ignorance and just plain stupidity of people in this country and most things that they seem to believe in. The most recent thing that comes to mind is this Columbia University Q&A with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I was completely happy to hear that he actually was given a Q&A with the students and faculty and such because now you can hear, first hand, his views and opinions on many controversial things that he has said, or at least the Western media and our current administration has portrayed him to be and hearing his quotes and views out of context.

Now I hadn't made an opinion on him but I did think he was a crazy motherfucker and the Administration should treat him with a little more respect and try to get a cordial, professional dialogue going with him and not just disrespecting him and bullying him around which seemed to be the main reason for his despise for the US and the same thing with Hugo Chavez and that gave another alliance in the fight against the US. How was that making us safe?

Anyway, you hear all these people saying that he shouldn't speak and condemning the Columbia University president for even allowing him to speak. Fuck you guys! By that rationale, you are saying that there shouldn't be any trials because you can just get one person's story about a situation and make a judgement based on that. That's seems stupid doesn't it? It's no difference than this.

I still have yet to hear or read the full transcript of the Q&A but the one that I've heard, it already showed how a view on his opinion was completely way off. That being his Halocaust denial. I do need to read more about what he said but there were views against the Halocaust but it wasn't a denial there were just things that went against Israel and in support of the Palestinians and their injustice as a result of that and other political things.

I do want to hear from the opposition. Directly, if anything. I want the ignorance kicked out of me. I want to form an opinion and take a stance on things based on full knowledge of something.

Speaking of, you know Americans are with this whole Administration and war where if you question the President, you are un-patriotic and that he's our leader and (since he's a man of God it's always good vs. evil) you should back him, unquestionably, with anything he does, then you cannot hold the Nazis responsible for what they did. They were following their leader. If they questioned him, did that make them bad? Look at Schindler. He was very unpatriotic, wasn't he?

speaking of, I put in my two weeks with this company. I want to get a cooking job or local trucking job. I told my manager that if he can get me a dedicated contract, I'll stay. But as it stands, I don't want to be here anymore. As much as I try to work out (without cardiovasculars) and eat healthy (which is impossible no matter how hard you try, unless you have lots of money and time), I've gained much weight and am just digressing at an increasing rate.

New Lisbon, IN

I am currently at a truck stop that is in the opposite direction of the birth place of Wilbur Wright. How exciting is that?

I am excited that I found a new blog to be able to go to. I found the link courtesy of a one Ben Weasel, and speaking of, his post that I got the link from told of Caddyshack being his all time favorite movie.

I currently have that with me and may watch it tonight. I've never seen the movie in its entirety because I usually lose interest, probably because of all the hype of the movie I've heard all my life and whatever part of the movie I've seen wasn't funny at all. I don't know. Maybe it's not funny and people just like it for nostalgic reasons. people do that with everything else like songs...and other movies for that matter.

Youngstown, OH

As usual, whenever I read a book about something, I end up travelling to the place. This has been more apparent in my current situation as an over-the-road truck driver.

Recently I've been reading Joe Namath's biography and he's from Beaver Falls, PA and, since Youngstown, OH is thirty miles away, he mentions schools and other things from this area.

Anyway, I'm heading to Massachusettes for a delivery on Monday and messaged Jeff that i'll be in the area that I think they'll be in. Maybe can hook up.

I had only owned one Danzig album, which was Danzig III: How The Gods Kill and had not remembered the cover nor had I seen the covers of their other albums. I recently got their first two albums and looking through the photos I saw the blonde dude had a Black Flag tattoo on his arm. I looked at him again and said, "That's fucking Chuck Biscuits!"

I looked at the liner notes and it is. That's fucking awesome and weird. I had known him from Black Flag and the Live at the Roxy from Social Distortion, though I never known him for being in Danzig. I never even knew any members.

I had been wanting to hear Samhain and recently have been hittin myself over the head for not going to that show when I first moved to Cali that was Strife, Samhain, and Danzig.

Omaha, NE

Got new cell number and a provider that allows us to make phone calls that do not drop and can be made in more than two places throughout Omaha.

Had a root canal this morning that needs to be finished up in a couple of weeks and was told that it may become infected and if so I would need to find a dentist along the way. I asked if that did in fact happen if I could phone him and he could call in a prescription to whatever pharmacy I would be near. After a bit he got approval to get me a prescription for antibiotics that I can take whereever I will be if such an occassion arises, though I will be getting it before I leave.

I went to apply for this job I was told would not be hiring for the position until mid-September but are accepting applications now and they had hired someone last week. Fuck those assholes! Anyway, next door to the liar-company was another company hiring. I decided not to go in but call later and they are hiring and seems a better deal than what the liar-company was offering, so I go there tomorrow.

Currently watching the Big Lebowski and it's the scene in the bowling alley where John Goodman pulls the gun out. I think the Fall is playing in the background. I need to get me some Fall records. I've been digging them a bunch recently.

I do have Danzig and Danzig II: Lucifuge coming in the mail and I hope to get it before I leave. I did get my GnF'nR albums and DVD's and a bunch of audio books.
